So, we've been getting a LOT of phone calls about when we are opening up. Yes, its true that Belleayre has been promising a hopeful opening since 11/14 and we've been pushing the date every weekend...but, honestly...we haven't had much cooperation with Homegirl, Mamma Nature. And what with Turkey Day around the corner, I know skiing, vaca, and pumpkin pies are certainly on the brain. God knows I've been dreaming about turkey, staring at my new set-up every night and hoping every night that I'll wake up to a blanket of white stuff. But when is it going to happen?!?!?! "Don't worry baby...soon, very soon," I tell my snowboard everyday. Because we all know, in classic Catskill form, it'll be 50 degrees one day and then the Arctic blast will blow in, in a matter of 20 hours and rock our little Belleayre World.
So, I've decided to just give everyone a number of answers to a lot of Frequently asked Questions, to hopefully hold everyone over and give everyone a little piece of mind- to pair with their little piece of T-day pumpkin pie.
So, in no particular order:
1) We will open ASAP. Albany (our higher-ups) has given us the thumbs up to open as early as we can (and blow snow!) and stay open as late as possible to make it a banner season for all.
2) It has to be 32 degrees F. for us to blow snow. aka...it has to be freezing out. I swear.
3) No, I'm sorry. We do not have any left over stock piles hiding anywhere, left over from last season. We used those on Memorial Day...and that was six months ago. yeah.
4) No, the lifts do not run if there is no snow.
5) Sure, you can come up and climb the trails with your gear and pretend that you are skiing. Whatever floats your boat.
6) Our "Snow-ca-china" doll is chanted to regularly, in hopes of snow.
7) Yes. The Snowsports hiring Clinic is still happening this Saturday and Sunday. Longhouse Lodge, 8am...bring some sneaks for Dry Land activities and tours...oh and loads and loads of calisthenics. We have drill sergeants shipping in for y'all, special. Turkey Day leftovers for lunch are encouraged...you'll get pumpkin pies in the face between the push-ups and the 1/4 mile sprints. (okay...I'm just kidding about the pies...and the drill sergeants.)
If any other concerns pop up, I'll address them accordingly. And let me ASSURE you...we are all incredibly antsy to get this party started. So, when WE GO- YOU'LL GO.
But, keep checking the site- every hour on the hour, if you want!!!!! And i hope everyone has a happy- and cross your fingers- snowy Turkey Day!!
